Sports Betting: Super Bowl highlights wagering week
The Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks will hit the gridiron together at MetLife Stadium in Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday night to cap off a packed sports betting schedule for the week that also includes top matchups in the NBA, college basketball, and the NHL.
Kickoff for the Broncos vs. Seahawks matchup is set for 6:30pm ET on Sunday, February 2, with Denver entering the week as a 2.5-point favorite on the NFL betting lines at the sportsbooks and the total listed at 47.5 points. Denver and Seattle are both 1-1 ATS so far in the playoffs.
The Broncos topped the Chargers 24-17 in the Divisional Round of the postseason, then got past the Patriots 26-16 in the AFC Championship Game. The Seahawks beat the Saints 23-15 in their Divisional Round matchup, and followed that up with a 23-17 win over the Niners in the NFC Championship Game.
Prop wagers for the Super Bowl available at the sportsbooks include Super Bowl MVP (Peyton Manning 11/10, Russell Wilson 15/4), coin toss result (Heads -105, Tails -105), temperature at kickoff (OVER/UNDER 32 degrees F), national anthem length (OVER/UNDER 2 minutes 25 seconds), and Archie Manning TV appearances (OVER/UNDER 1).
On the hardwood this week the NBA has a marquee matchup on Wednesday night as LeBron James and the Miami Heat get a visit from Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Heat have beaten the Thunder and covered the spread on the NBA betting lines in each of their last six meetings.
Miami also plays on the road at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks on Saturday night, while the Thunder will be in Brooklyn on Friday night to face the Nets and in Washington on Saturday night to take on the Wizards.
The college hoops schedule for this week is jam-packed with top matchups on Saturday, including Ohio State at Wisconsin, Baylor at Oklahoma State, Oklahoma at Iowa State, Arizona at California, and Duke at Syracuse. The Orange enter the week a perfect 19-0 on the season, and this will be their first game against the Blue Devils since 1998.
Syracuse is also on the road at Wake Forest on Wednesday night this week, while Arizona is on the road at Stanford that same day. The Wildcats also enter the week a perfect 19-0 on the season, and they're 5-2 ATS in their past seven games against the Cardinal dating back to 2009.
And on the ice the National Hockey League will continue its Stadium Series on Wednesday night, with the New York Rangers taking on the New York Islanders at Yankee Stadium. The Islanders topped the Rangers 5-3 at Madison Square Garden in NHL betting action in their most recent meeting on January 21.
The Islanders and Rangers will also meet inside at Madison Square Garden on Friday night this week, with the Islanders hosting the Boston Bruins on Monday night.
