Red Sox host Orioles as division rivalries heat up
Monday the Orioles start a three-game AL East rivalry series with the Red Sox at Fenway; the Brewers and Cubs begin their annual I-94 series with the opener of a three-game set at Wrigley Field; the Reds and Cardinals start what might be the battle for the NL Central with the first of three games at Busch Stadium; the Phillies host the Mets for the first of three at CBP; and the Rays and Rangers meet for the opener of a three-game series in Arlington.
As of Monday morning some online sportsbooks were listing Baltimore, which beat Boston 13 out of 18 times last season, at +140 to win the series against the Sox, who were chalked at -160 for the series.
Milwaukee, which beat the Cubs 13 out of 17 times last year, was getting +120 to take that series against Chicago, which was chalked at -140.
St. Louis, which just took two of three games from the Giants out in San Francisco, was giving -135 to take the series from Cincy, which was getting +115.
Philly, off to a 2-4 start to this season, was listed as a -165 favorite to take that series from New York, which was getting +145.
And Texas, which just took two of three games from the Angels, was favored by -165 to win that series with Tampa, which was getting +145.
Moving on to Tuesday the Blue Jays and Tigers begin a three-game series in Detroit; the Nationals and White Sox start a three-game inter-league series in DC; and the A's and Angels begin their annual AL West battle with the first of three games in Anaheim.
