NFL Odds: Bears, Eagles clash in Philadelphia
A pair of 8-6 teams looking to win their respective divisions this season will meet on Sunday Night Football in Week 16 as the Philadelphia Eagles play host to the Chicago Bears in one of the marquee NFL betting matchups for the week ahead.
The Eagles had their five-game winning streak come to an end over the weekend, falling 48-30 on the road against Minnesota despite being pegged as a 7-point favorite on the NFL odds at the sportsbooks for the contest. Philadelphia is now 8-6 SU and 7-6-1 ATS on the season, and they hold a one-game lead on the Dallas Cowboys atop the NFC East standings.
Eagles quarterback Nick Foles went 30 of 48 for 428 yards passing with three touchdowns and one interception in that loss to the Vikings, with each of those TD strikes coming in the second half in a failed comeback attempt. DeSean Jackson had 10 catches for 195 yards with a touchdown on the day.
The Bears head into Sunday Night Football this week riding a two-game winning streak that has them at 8-6 SU but just 4-9-1 ATS on the season as they try to hold off the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers atop the NFC North standings.
Chicago is coming off a 38-31 win in Cleveland over the weekend in which they had been listed as a 1-point road underdog on the NFL betting lines at the sportsbooks. Jay Cutler went 22 of 31 for 265 yards passing with three TDs and two INTs for Chicago, who trailed the Browns 24-17 at halftime in Week 15.
Philadelphia and Chicago haven't met since November 2011, when the Bears won 30-24 as a 7.5-point road underdog on the NFL odds at the sportsbooks. The Bears are 4-1 both SU and ATS against the Eagles in their last five matchups dating back to 2007, with the OVER/UNDER going 3-2 in those games.
For Sunday Night Football the Eagles opened as 3.5-point favorites over the Bears, with the total for the game at 55.5 points.
With no Thursday night game this week the only other primetime matchup on the schedule is Atlanta at San Francisco on Monday Night Football. The Falcons are out of the playoff race at 4-10 SU (5-9 ATS), while the Niners are 10-4 SU (9-4-1 ATS) on the season and in control of at least an NFC Wild Card berth. San Francisco opened as a 10-point favorite.
