NCAA Tournament Odds: Gators the Madness favorites
The Florida Gators are holding down the top odds to win the NCAA Tournament at the sportsbooks heading into the start of the Big Dance this week, which should come as no surprise to bettors since they've been atop that futures list for weeks.
The Gators, who headline the South Region of the bracket and await the winner of the play-in game between Albany and Mount St. Mary's, sit as a 5/1 favorite on the odds to win the NCAA Tournament, ahead of 6/1 Michigan State, 13/2 Louisville, 9/1 Arizona, and the 12/1 quartet of Duke, Kansas, Virginia, and Wichita State.
The Shockers are the top seed in the Midwest Region and will also get a play-in winner in their first game - either Cal Poly or Texas Southern. Arizona is the top seed in the West Region and will take on Weber State in their first game of the NCAA Tournament, while Virginia is No. 1 in the East Region and will face Coastal Carolina to open their March Madness run.
And while the Cavaliers are a No. 1 seed, they aren't the favorites to win the East Region at the sportsbooks - that chalk status is held by No. 4 seed Michigan State, which has a 5/2 line to claim the region's crown ahead of 11/4 Virginia. No. 2 Villanova is at 15/4, with No. 3 Iowa State at 6/1.
The No. 4 seed is also the favorite in the Midwest Region, with fourth-seeded Louisville at 8/5 on that odds list ahead of 7/2 Duke (the No. 3 seed), 4/1 Wichita State (the No. 1 seed), and 11/2 Michigan (the No. 2 seed). Kentucky, a No. 8 seed in the Midwest Region, is fifth at 12/1 on those odds.
Top-seeded Arizona is the top favorite in the West Region at 2/1 to claim that title, ahead of No. 2 Wisconsin and No. 3 Creighton - who are both sitting at 4/1 odds. San Diego State, the No. 4 seed in the West Region, is farther back at 9/1 on those NCAA Tournament odds.
And Florida, obviously, is the favorite on the odds to win the South Region at the sportsbooks, sitting at 9/5. Kansas, which earned the No. 2 seed in the South, is then at 15/4 on that odds list, with No. 3 Syracuse at 5/1, and No. 4 UCLA tied with No. 5 VCU at 9/1.
The NCAA Tournament gets underway on Tuesday night with the play-in games of Mount St. Mary's vs. Albany and North Carolina State vs. Xavier at the University of Dayton, while on Wednesday at the same venue it'll be Texas Southern vs. Cal Poly and Tennessee vs. Iowa in First Four action.
The second and third rounds of March Madness then hit the hardwood on Thursday and Friday, with 32 schools left standing for the college basketball betting matchups on Saturday and Sunday this week.
