Football Betting: Tide, Mannings highlight week ahead
Two marquee college football programs will meet on the gridiron this weekend as Texas A&M hosts Alabama, while Peyton Manning and Eli Manning go head to head at MetLife Stadium as the New York Giants play host to the Denver Broncos in key NFL betting action at the sportsbooks.
Alabama and Texas A&M kick off at 3:30pm ET on Saturday afternoon, with the top-ranked Crimson Tide sitting as the 7.5-point favorites on the early line for the matchup this week. The Aggies will be looking to climb the polls with an upset victory over their SEC rival.
And Johnny Manziel and company did manage to score an upset over the Crimson Tide last season, shocking everyone with a 29-24 win on the road as a 13.5-point underdog on the college football betting lines at the sportsbooks. That was the first meeting between the two schools.

Meanwhile, over in the NFL the Giants will host the Broncos in a late-afternoon game on Sunday, with those two teams not having met since 2009 - when Denver won 26-6 as a 5-point home underdog on the NFL betting lines. And that was long before Peyton Manning became Denver's starting quarterback.
Peyton Manning threw for 462 yards and seven touchdowns in Denver's 49-27 victory over the Baltimore Ravens to open the NFL season last Thursday night. Eli Manning passed for 450 yards and four touchdowns but was picked off three times in the Giants' 36-31 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night.
Denver is a 5.5-point road favorite on the NFL odds for Sunday, with the total for the matchup set at 54.5 points.
This week's Sunday Night Game on NBC has San Francisco at Seattle, with the Seahawks opening as 2.5-point home favorites on the NFL betting lines at the sportsbooks. Thursday night it's the Jets at the Patriots, with Tom Brady and company pegged as the 13-point favorites for the contest.
