Cowboys open season as road dogs against Giants
The defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants are listed as 4-point favorites against the division rival Dallas Cowboys as the NFL regular season kicks off Wednesday night (8:30 pm ET, NBC) at MetLife Stadium.
The Giants, who are 5-1 ATS in their past six head-to-head matchups with the Cowboys, buried Dallas 31-14 late last year to clinch the NFC East title while Tony Romo and company missed the playoffs.
Eli Manning threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns in that decisive victory, while breakout star receiver Victor Cruz hauled in six passes for 178 yards including a 74-yard touchdown catch. Romo had a strong second half in that matchup and finished the day with 289 yards passing, two touchdowns and one interception.
With the total listed at 48 points, the combined score of that game was an under result for the first time since 2008 - a span which covered five straight over results betweeen the Cowboys and Giants. The total for Wednesday night's contest is currently listed at 46 points.
