Baseball Betting: Red Sox look for a turnaround
Coming back to the pack in the AL East standings, the Boston Red Sox will be looking for a good result against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays early this week in one of the highlight series on the MLB betting schedule.
Boston took an early lead in the AL East with a strong showing over the first month of the season, but after struggling early in May they find themselves now bunched up with the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles at the top of those division standings.
The Red Sox can turn around that losing trend this week on the road against Tampa Bay in a three-game series that starts on Tuesday night. Boston paid off on the MLB betting lines in all three of their games against Tampa Bay at Fenway Park back in April, winning those contests by a combined score of 10-3.
Those low-scoring results made the UNDER 5-0 in the last five matchups between the Red Sox and the Rays for totals bettors dating back to last season.
Boston then moves on to play Minnesota later this week, while Tampa Bay heads out on the road for a three-game series at Camden Yards in Baltimore on the weekend. The Orioles have already played two series against the Rays this season, paying off in four of the six matchups.
Monday's top contest takes place at Chase Field in Phoenix, with the Arizona Diamondbacks opening up a three-game series at home against the Atlanta Braves. Both teams are listed at -110 on the MLB betting odds at the sportsbooks for the contest.
Atlanta and Arizona have been among the best teams in the National League so far this season, but as they head into their first meeting of the year this week the Braves have paid out in eight of their past 10 games against the Diamondbacks.
Monday also features a doubleheader in Cleveland between the Yankees and Indians, while the Texas Rangers begin a three-game road series against the division-rival Oakland Athletics. The Rangers have won just three of their last 10 games against the A's, with the teams meeting for the first time this season. Texas is at +110 for Monday, with Oakland the -130 favorite.
The hottest team in baseball heading into this week are the St. Louis Cardinals, and they'll be at home for a four-game series against the New York Mets and then a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers over the next seven days.
MLB betting trends show that St. Louis has managed to win seven of its past eight games against Milwaukee, including a four-game road sweep back at the beginning of May. Three of those four matchups turned out to be OVER results on the MLB betting lines.
And looking to the weekend, the Detroit Tigers will be in Texas to take on the Rangers in a four-game series that will be capped off by a Sunday Night Baseball matchup. Texas was 7-3 against Detroit last season, including wins in four of their last five meetings.
